Lakeshore Foundation and U.S. Paralympian Mike Dickey traveled to Spain September 16-20, 2009 to compete in the Alicante World Cup shooting competition in Alicante, Spain. He returned home with a team silver medal as well as an appearance in his first international final.

The competition took place in the city of Alicante on Spain's Mediterranean coast and featured athletes from fourteen countries.

Dickey's performance in the very close air rifle session earned him a spot in his first international final. After the initial sixty shots of the competition, Dickey was in fourth place of the eight athletes headed into the final. Following two rounds of ten shots each, Dickey scored two "9.7's" and dropped slightly to end in sixth place. The competition was tight, though, as fourth, fifth, and sixth place were separated by only six tenths of a point.

Dickey was also able to help secure a team silver medal in the fifty meter sixty shot prone rifle match along with fellow Americans Danielle Fong and Josh Olsen.

Team USA took home three other medals with strong performances by Dickey's team members Fong, Olsen, and Eric Hollen.

Dickey, a longtime member and athlete at Lakeshore Foundation, was introduced to shooting in 2001. Since being named to the U.S. Paralympic Shooting National Team in 2006, Dickey has been involved in several major international events including the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing, China.
