Lakeshore Foundation youth swim coach Harold Hagler was honored on the 50th anniversary of the first swim team at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa September 18-19, 2009. For their contributions to the legacy of the school's swimming and diving program, Hagler and his teammates were inducted into the University of Alabama Swimming Hall of Fame.

A dinner was held on Friday for current University of Alabama swimmers and divers as well as 150 alumni from the last 50 years. Hagler and his fellow athletes shared stories over dinner from the beginnings of the program and encouraged the current student athletes to make the most of their time at the university.

Hagler was joined by teammates Stroud Curran, Durham Ellis, Bay Lott and Stan Walker to represent the 1959-60 team and their late coach John Foster as they were honored on the field at Bryant-Denny Stadium during Saturday's football game between Alabama and North Texas.

Hagler just completed his first season coaching the youth swim team, which represented Lakeshore Foundation at competitions around the country. Hagler's team excelled at the National Junior Disability Championships in St. Louis in July, setting 28 national records.
